🌟 Primary 3/4 Weekly Round-Up – Term 2, Week Six
✏️ Literacy & Writing
Our spelling focus this week was the “tion” sound, and the children worked hard to spot this pattern in their reading and spelling tasks.
In our Explorers writing, we travelled to Canada! We linked our learning to our magnets topic by exploring how a compass works, and the children wrote detailed descriptions of walking through a Canadian forest, focusing on sound, sight, smell, touch, and feelings.
We also continued to develop our independent reading and comprehension tasks, building confidence in reading stamina and understanding.
As part of our winter crafts, we made our own snow globes, which inspired a fun piece of imaginative writing:
⭐ “If I Were Trapped Inside a Snow Globe…”
The stories were magical, creative, and wonderfully descriptive!
🔢 Maths
In maths this week, we:
-
Continued practising our times tables
-
Introduced chimney sums (vertical addition), building on our chunking method from last week
🎄 Winter Crafts
We have been busy with lots of festive creativity!
The children have made:
-
Salt dough candles
-
Snow globes
-
And have begun working on their 2026 calendars
The classroom looks very wintry and very beautiful!
🎭 Christmas Play
We continued our Christmas play practice, learning songs, actions, and lines. The children are working so hard, and the excitement is definitely building!
