The first day of the last week of term saw plenty of excitement at Cunningsburgh Primary School!

First of all, some of the P6/7 pupils organised a “Cunningsburgh’s Got Talent” show for the school.  It was fantastic, and wonderful to see some of the talents on offer!  Well done to everyone who got up there and performed – you were amazing.  Here are some stillsfrom the P3/4/5 class’s performances.

Secondly, we had a visitor this afternoon!  Mike Mongo, an astronaut working with the Saxa Vord space port, came to speak to our class today.  He had an online session with the pupils last year, but we were very lucky that this year we were able to have a visit from him in person.

Mike inspired the class to be what they want to be, and not to let others tell us that we ‘can’t’ do something!  I think he also inspired the glasses wearers in P3/4/5 to try a new style…

This term P.3-5 have been taking part in the ‘How Do Instruments Make Sound?’ Project. As well as learning about the different instruments in the four sections of the orchestra, the class have also brought in instruments to show and perform to the class, we’ve had musicians performing their instruments to us and we have even created our own instruments too!

On Tuesday 13th June we were very lucky to have a visit from Marian, Mary and Joanne from Taste of Shetland!  They spoke to us about lots of different ingredients, and we made mackerel pate and salad to eat with an oatcake.  We also got to try some home made rhubarb fizz! I think several pupils went home wanting to make their own mackerel pate or rhubarb fizz!

We had a fantastic trip to Aith on Friday 9th June!  We went to Michaelswood for a play, had a picnic lunch outside the Aith School,  picked up treats from the Cake Fridge, ate our treats at the Burn of Lunklet and then had a paddle!  Luckily, the weather was perfect.  What a great day!
