Term 4 Week 6

World Landmarks. This week, all of the class shared their homework projects and I was so impressed with the variety and effort put in by the class. We had models, posters, presentations, paintings and more. Well done P6/7!

Canva with P1/2. On Wednesday, we worked with P1/2 to create a book all about different countries in the world. The class were paired up with a pupil from P1/2 and then chose a country to research. They all created super posters and we turned it into a book. It’s safe to say, everyone had fun.

Term 4 Week 5

Blooket Times Tables. This week, to help us practice our times tables we have been using Blooket. It allows the pupils to focus on speed and accuracy of their times table knowledge as well as being good fun, if slightly competitive.

Big Question – Food. This week, we’ve been looking at Scottish foods as well as foods from different countries. It’s been really interesting to see how foods compare and to learn a little bit of history behind some dishes. The class created Scottish menus and then had free choice to show their learning about food from their chosen country – some created menus, some created ‘top 10’ guides and some made fact books.

Scottish Draw-along. We all took part in a ‘Highland Cow’ draw along this week and then the class were free to express their artistic abilities in any way they wanted. Although some are not completely finished, they all look amazing.

Term 4 Week 4

Maths-tastic. This week has been super busy in maths, from outdoor learning about perimeter to using ICT to create survey results. We’ve also been working on targeted times tables as well as using Blooket as part of our Flashback focus activities too.

Music Instructors Tour. On Monday we were treated to a musical extravaganza of different instruments and some very familiar songs. It was a super way to start the week.

Big Question – Houses and homes. This week we’ve been learning about houses and homes in Scotland and our chosen countries. The class worked in groups to create podcast about Scottish homes and then we had fun making Shetland croft houses out of clay. We also made fact books about our own countries which are all so creative.

Term 4 Week 3

Maths-tastic! We’ve had a very busy week in maths learning about different elements of measure as well as practicing our times tables. We’ve taken full advantage of the weather and taken maths outside when we can too.

Weather and Climate. This week we’ve been learning about the weather in Scotland and our chosen country. The class worked in groups to create weather reports about Scotland and then independently created picture posters about their country.

Term 4 Week 2

Maths. This week we have been doing a range of mental maths starter challenges. One of the favourite in the class is the 5 minute counting challenge where the class choose their task and have 5 minutes to count as high as they can. Some found it trickier but applied different strategies to overcome the challenge. We have also been working with measure and the weights and scales have been a big hit in the classroom.

AI technology. Sandra Summers and her team came in on Wednesday afternoon to speak about AI technology and the dangers it can pose. Before their presentation, the P7 pupils presented arguments for and against AI technology and led the class in a small debate around the issue.  I was very impressed with the P7 presentations and how well they presented to the class.

Big Question – World Landscapes. This week we have been looking at the landscapes of Scotland and our chosen countries. Here are a selection of the country maps the class created.
