Term 4 Week 1

Musical performances. Emma-Lee and Ava are taking part in the Young Fiddler competition this week. They practiced their pieces in front of the class and then with Eunice in the hall to our class and P1/2. We can’t wait to hear how they get on as I’m sure they’ll be amazing!

Visit from Billy and Susan. On Friday, Billy and Susan came in to speak to the school about their adventures with Molly the Otter (as seen on Disney). Thanks to Alina and Lewis for putting us in touch with them. I think it was very much enjoyed by the whole school.

Big Question. This week we have been learning about the different continents, seas and oceans in our world. The class worked in small groups to research different continents and oceans/seas and then create a ‘stall’ all about their elements. We then held a ‘tour of the world’ for P1/2 to come and learn about features of the world.

Term 3 Week 13

Science Skills Academy. On Tuesday we spent the day at the Science Skills workshop in Sandwick. The class were amazing and worked together on different activities and challenges all about energy. The also had an opportunity to use a kit to build different circuits. We even managed to have lunch outside as the weather was sunny and warm.

Rainbows. One of the challenges for ‘This or That’ this week has been rainbows which has seen some very creative results.

Easter story hunt. After learning about the story of Easter, the class went on a story hunt around the playground to find different parts of the story and then put them in order. They were off so quickly I could hardly get any photos but there was a lot of fun had by everyone.

Cactus Artwork. When Mrs. Johnson was covering the class a few weeks ago, she did some art work with the class. They used paint, pens, pencils. and oil pastels to create these amazing pictures. Well done P6/7!

Writing. For the last few weeks we have been working on note taking within our writing lessons. This week we used ‘ Tangled Worlds’ from the BBC Asia series, as our stimulus and the class did some artwork from their notes before making posters about the animals. Using Canva, they all picked an animal or a few animals, used their notes for information and created amazing posters. They considered themes, colours, fonts, pictures and more when making their posters and the results are amazing.

Volleyball

For the second half of the term, in PE, we have been doing volleyball.  We worked on ball tracking, movement, the 2 main volleyball shots, throwing and catching.  We played in a few different team games putting these skills into context and also played 2v2 games, using benches as our net.
