Term 3 Weeks 7 and 8

Hi everyone! It’s Rebekah here writing the blog this week. We’re going to share what we’ve been doing over the last couple of weeks.

Maths – 3D shapes. This last couple of weeks, then we have been revising 3D shapes. For this we might do like a quiz, activities or like colour and build your own 3D shapes. In our textbooks, we did things like learning about vertices, edges and faces😊(I mean like the faces on a the cube), and then had to draw our own 3D shapes.

Writing – Famous People. For our writing, we have been learning about Amelia Earhart and Ada Lovelace. Amelia was the first lady to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean and then disappeared whilst trying to fly around the world. We created presentations about her life. Ada Lovelace invented the first machine that could calculate stuff and we wrote stories about our own machines and then created posters about the goods and bads of technology.

Big Question. The Power to Save and Sustain. For ways to save energy, then we did pictures of the Lorax because he tries to save the environment. We then added in our own ways to save the environment around him.  On our pictures we added things like “Save the trees!” or “Don’t waste energy!” For ‘The Power to Sustain’ we looked at different keystone species and how they are important to the world.

This or That – free choice. This week for our S.D.G. we are working on what ever we want. The reason why we get to chose what we are doing is because it is quality education. People did lots of different topics including Minecrafts, SIX, myths, Gladiators, actors, animals, WW2, famous pianists and much more. We had a lovely afternoon hearing about the different topics.

Thanks for reading our blog.

Anthea and Rebekah

Term 3 Week 6

Hi! It’s me, Ava G and I’m in charge of the class blog this week.

Maths – Shape. For maths, we have been working on 2D shapes and their properties and also angles and lines. We created 2D shape characters and played Blooket to practice our facts about different kinds of angles and types of line.

Homework projects – Mythical Creatures. It was lovely to see all the different homework projects that people had done.

Chocolate! For our Big Question this week, I interviewed Megan to find out what the class were learning about.  “So we were learning about Fair Trade, in particular ‘Chocolate! Fair trade means that farmers get paid more money for their cocoa beans and a fair price as they don’t always get a fair amount of money for what they grow.  We go to try chocolate that was fair trade and we had the choice between different flavours. We then made chocolate fair trade posters in pairs and design our own fair trade chocolate bars. ”

This or That – European fashion. For this or that, we got to sew clothes for dolls based on different European clothing styles.

Thank you all for reading the blog this week, I hope you enjoyed it

BYE!

Term 3 Week 5

S’up hommies! It’s Ava T here and I have the power of the blog this week.  Mwah, ha, ha, ha!

Maths – Simon Says. This week we played a new version of Simon Says invented by Mrs A. She gave instructions like ‘Simon says what is 5 x 8?’ Then we had to write the answer as fast as possible. The last one to write the answer or if you got it wrong, you were eliminated. I got put out because I wrote a very wonky, unidentifiable number 5!

We’ve also been practicing our Speedy Skills a lot this week with some of us getting very competitive with themselves.

Writing – Alexander Fleming. We did our writing stimulus about Alexander Fleming and he discovered Penicillin after taking a vacay. We wrote our own amazing discovery stories and scientific reports. We wrote the reports step by step with Mrs A which was really clear and helpful to guide us to know what to do for each part. We were given a topic and time to write about that specifically which helped to us all to keep on track. It was good and we want to do more lessons like that. Here are some samples of the writing from our class this week.

Big Question – The Power to Renew. We have been learning about non-renewable and renewable energy sources. Mrs A challenged us to make our own Sustainable cities by using scrap paper and junk modelling resources. My group decided to make Sydney, Australia and obviously, I had to make a solar-powered water slide. Each group created amazing cities.

This or That. Our Culture Crew task this week was to build a model of a European Monument. We decided to make the Eiffel Tower however, its leaning qualities made us realise it should be called ‘The Leaning Tower of Eiffel’! It is still surprisingly upright (although leaning against the window). Other groups worked with Kapla to make amazing monuments. Can you guess what the monuments are?

I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog,

Ava 😁
