Term 3 Week 4

‘Haggis Watch’ – The P5/6/7 assembly. This week has been focused around our class assembly. We chose to theme this around the ‘Haggis’ and the class split into different groups to explore this. We had scientists, environmentalists, field reporters, historians and hosts. The class were amazing and all shining stars. Well done P5/6/7!

Sustainable Squad – Coding Fun. We’ve had a lot of fun this week practicing our coding skills using Micro:bits and using Scratch.

Term 3 Week 3

Hello, this is Eilidh Smith and I have the power of this blog.

Writing – Robert Burns. This week we have used Robert Burns as our focus in writing. His Scottish poems are very confusing but we used two of his poems as a writing prompts. We wrote adventure stories about a little mouse and then haggis fact files.

Big Question – The Choice to Act. The best class value is kindness. This week we have been looking at values in action. We agreed on our top 4 class values of fun, determination, kindness and creativity and then Mrs A set up ‘Value jars’ that we can add counters to when we see the value in action. We also drew big people and wrote key values on the inside and actions linked to these on the outside.

Haggis themed fun. We watched a mockumentary about the wild haggis of Scotland. We learned about the Irn bru haggis, the Mullet Haggis, the Woolly Haggis and many more. After we made fact files about a haggis of our choice. On Thursday we made clay sculptures of many different haggis. Mine is called “The long neck tiny face stubby legs haggis.”

I hope you will spend your weekend dreaming about Haggis and let us know what your favourite breed of Haggis is.

Thanks for reading,

Bye! 😊

Term 3 Week 2

Hello! I am Cheryl and I have the power of the blog!

Music – Scottish singing and dancing. We were singing Scottish songs like ‘Auld Lang Sine’ and then did some dances in music this week. It was lots of fun.

Big Question – The Choice to Balance. This week we have been learning about having balance in our lives and not too much of one thing or another. We looked at the story of Buddha and how he found a balance between compassion and greed. Mrs A then gave us a fun task. We had to build a tower that was 1 meter tall. Each group had different ideas – some collapsed and some stayed up for the time. It was very fun!

Just dance fun. In the morning when it was dull and raining, we couldn’t go out for daily mile. So instead we did just dance. We did ‘Hips don’t lie’ and ‘Rasputin’ and ‘Waka waka’. My fav is ‘Hips don’t lie’.

Art with Mrs Adamson and Mrs Johnson. This week Mrs A and Mrs N Johnson did art with us. We could pick anything we wanted to draw ! We could use how to draws on the laptop or just make it up freestyle but it was the best! Here is the artwork. We hope you like it.

Murder Mystery. Murder Mystery style games are really loved by the class after Mrs A made up two for our castles topic. On Friday afternoon, Emma-Lee and I ran our own one in the style of ‘The Traitors’. Everyone really enjoyed it although unfortunately the traitors won!

I hope you enjoyed the blog.  Bye bye! 😊
