Term 2 Week 8

Lanterns of Love. For our Big Question this week, we have been looking at the key values of love and compassion as seen in the Nativity story. After doing a character study of key people in the story, we made Lanterns of Love. We finished off our Big Question work by watching ‘Nativity’ (and P3/4 joined us too.)

Winter Wonderland.  For one of our This or That tasks this week, we had to research different groups of people who live in Winter Wonderlands. The children worked in groups to research and prepare something to share to teach the class about their given group. It was super to see all the creativity and fun throughout each presentation.

Game Time. On Thursday, Primary 3 joined us for some game fun. We played lots of different games and it was lovely to see all the interactions between everyone.

Christmas Sing-a-long. Trevor led the whole school in a Christmas sing song which was enjoyed by all.

The Last Day. We had a super last day of Big Play in the morning,  followed by a Christmas assembly at the United Free church and then finished the day with a movie.

Merry Christmas from P5/6/7!

Term 2 Week 7

Welcome to our blog this week. Its me, Esther, who will be telling you all about a very Christmassy week in P5/6/7.

The 67th Day of School. On Monday, it was the 67th day of school so we celebrated it with 6-7 related tasks. We had maths, literacy and art activities and a very chilled afternoon after a busy morning of rehearsals.

Bethlehem Bake Off. At the Bethlehem Bake off, everyone worked really hard to present the play. Everyone did really well playing the piano, fiddle or the accordion too. We all enjoyed the performances and I hoped you enjoyed them too.

A Visit from the Polytunnel. Bev came in to visit us and she hid 9 angels around the room and we had to try and find them. Each angel had a letter to spell out something and the word was Bethlehem. After that, she told the Christmas story and then we got a spot the difference and a word search to do based on Bethlehem.

The Aa Fired Up Experience. As a result of all our amazing enterprise work, Miss Mann and Mrs A organised an ‘Aa Fired Up’ experience for both classes. We designed a tile with anything we wanted and then painted them. We also got to have a cake, a drink and a squishy cube. It was a nice surprise.

Christmas Lunch. The P7 pupils got to help set up the tables for lunch and then helped to serve the lunches. It was delicious and we all got to pull crackers too.

Christmas Party. We had a super afternoon playing games, eating snacks and dancing. Everyone loved it!

Thanks for reading my blog this week.

From Esther 😊

Term 2 Week 6

Hi, I’m Jess and it is my week to write the blog. Thank you for reading it.

Maths – Prodigy.  We had 15 extra minutes of Prodigy because of Naughty or Nice. Every morning, Mrs Adamson spins the Advent wheel of names and if it is you that it lands on, then you pick a slip of paper. Get a green slip of paper with writing, that means you got a Nice, but if it was red… you got a Naughty! For example, if you got a Naughty you would have to tidy the kindles for a week, or if you got a Nice you could choose a game to play!

Christmas Concert Practice. We have moved the tables so we have a mini stage to rehearse in our classroom. We have also started making and collecting props for our Bethlehem Bake-Off. Cheryl and Eilidh Smith is our prompts, the people to tell us our lines when we forget them (which we hope won’t happen).

This or That. This week, our Animal Adventures was all about birds. For Sustainable Squad, our SDG (sustainable development goal) is responsible consumption and production, so we had to make something creative out of a plastic bottle. Here are some of our finished projects.

Enterprise Shopping Night. Here are some photos of our stalls from the Shopping Night. Thanks to everyone who came along. We raised a lot of money because of everyone who bought our products.

Thank you for reading the blog. I hope you enjoyed it xx
