Term 2 Week 3 and 4

Hello everyone and welcome to the blog for P5/6/7. I’m Campbell and I’m Joe and we will be sharing some of the things we have been doing this week and last week in our class.

Writing. Last week we worked in groups to write a rap. We started by watching the ‘Michael Rosen Rap’ on Youtube (you should look it up as it is very funny). We all chose different topics to write our raps on but we had to make sure they had a beat, rhythm and rhyme. We then performed our raps to the class. They were very funny and everyone did an excellent job.

This week, we have been writing stories using the 5-part plan. We could write our story about anything linked to Ancient Greece. Here are some of the stories below.

This or That. Here are a selection of photos of things that people have done for ‘This or That’ over the last two weeks.

Enterprise and Business. Last week, we all made up our companies for the sale on the 28th of November. We made the company logos on Canva and we have nearly finished our companies stuff that we are going to sell. We thought of ideas last term with P4/5. We have worked really hard all week on the different stalls and even been helping out other groups.

Gymnastics. For PE, we are currently doing gymnastics and have been working on the different pieces of equipment. We have got to try out the A-frame, the high box, the big climbing frame, springboards, benches and more. It has been lots of fun and the whole class have enjoyed it!

PE Term 2 Week 1 & 2 Gymnastics

This term, all pupils will be taking part in gymnastics, starting withย mat skillsย and progressing toย apparatus work. Gymnastics is a fantastic way for children to develop confidence, coordination, and strength while working at their own level.

Mat Skills Focus:

  • Balances
  • Jumps
  • Rolls
  • Handstands
  • Cartwheels

Apparatus Focus:

  • Pupils will explore different equipment setups
  • Theyโ€™ll be encouraged to create their own ways of moving from one side to the other

This approach supports creativity, problem-solving, and physical literacy.

Everybody loves this term in the gym, so Iโ€™m sure their will be plenty to talk about when they get home.

PE Reminder

Please ensure pupils:

  • Come dressed appropriately on PE days
  • Have appropriate footwear.ย  Now that the weather is changing, footwear can be changed before PE.
  • Have hair tied up
  • Remove jewellery and watches before the session

Week 1 and 2 Mat Skills

Week 1 โ€“ Shapes and Rolls

Week 2 – Rolls, Handstands and Cartwheels

Term 2 Week 2

Hi, I’m Freya and I am the ruler of the blog this week. Read on to find out some of the exciting things we’ve been doing this week.

Speedy Skills. In maths, we have been working on our different ‘Speedy Skills’. We did a counting challenge and we have discovered a new game called ‘Daily 10’. You have to choose a time and pick a topic and try to answer the questions as fast as you can. It is lots of fun.

Writingย  – Ancient Greece.ย ย In writing, we have been each focusing on Ancient Greece as our writing topic. We all wrote about different Ancient Greek gods or goddesses, created fact files about mythical creatures of our choice and then wrote reports on Ancient Greek celebrations and festivals.

This or That. This week, we had two tasks. Our Sustainable Squad task was to make a mind map about our dream jobs. The Animal Adventurers task was all about fish. You could do anything you wanted in a creative and engaging way. See below for some of the completed tasks this week.

Class visitors.ย On Friday morning, P4-7 enjoyed having a few visitors to help us on our business project for the Christmas Craft fair. We learned about different parts of a business and how to run a successful business. We even got to take part in a fun competition. Thanks to Brian and Kristina for coming in to see us.

Castle fort building. On Friday we had a great afternoon building the best castle forts ever! We watched a short film and enjoyed time in our cosy castle table forts. Some people brought in dressing gowns, onesies, pillows, blankets and all that cosy stuff. It was a fun way to finish off our topic.

Thanks for reading the blog this week. I hope you haven’t fallen asleep and managed to read to the end.
