Meta-Skills – Mazes

We have been learning about the meta-skills for the last couple of weeks. We learned about what these skills look like and considered when we might use them. We looked at the character names given to each skill by Skills Development Scotland.

Today, the pupils were all challenged to make a maze using a paper plate and some straws. Afterwards, they had a chance to try out other mazes. Following on from this, they considered which of the meta-skills had been used.

The skills used included:

  • Adapting – having to try out different ways of making the mazes and changing as they went along.
  • Creativity – considering what they wanted their maze to look like and how to make this happen.
  • Communicating – listening to the ideas of others and helping each other.
