The Physical Education Courses for National 4 and National 5 P.E. courses covers the following four factors which may impact on the performance of physical activities;
- mental
- emotional
- social
- physical
The National 4 and National 5 P.E. courses involves work on 3 units and includes the following areas of assessment;
- Performance skills – in this area you will be given the opportunity to develop and safely demonstrate a range of movements and performance skills. At National 4 and 5 level, activities include, Basketball, Badminton, Hockey, Trampolining, Survival Swimming. Assessment will involve passing the unit in 2 activities. At National 5 level a final performance mark out of 60 will contribute towards the overall course award.
- Factors Impacting on Performance– in this area you will be given the opportunity to explore and raise your awareness of factors which impact on participation and performance in physical activities. You will reflect on and monitor your own performance. There will be opportunities for personalisation and choice in selecting from a range of factors which will impact on participation and performance. Assessment will involve a unit based workbook.
- Added Value Assessment – At National 4 level, this involves a one off performance.
- External Assessment – there is no external assessment for N4. At N5 level a “one off” performance is completed with 40 % from the practical performance, 20% from the paperwork involved with the “one off” performance and the remaining 40% from the Portfolio.
