Transition Activity – Digital Skills

Last week both classes worked together on a digital skills task using the Lenovo Tablets. They worked in pairs using Google Maps to find different places in Shetland. Their challenge was to find a place that started with every letter of the alphabet! It wasn’t an easy task but we nearly did it!

Did you know that Shetland used to be called Zetland?

Please note that there will be no news shared in class this week to allow pupils time to present their talks as part of our topic.

Coronation Celebrations

The school celebrated the coronation of King Charles III by having a picnic lunch which unfortunately had to be eaten inside due to the poor weather.  Despite not being able to eat on the field as planned, this did not dampen the children’s enthusiasm while celebrating the occasion.  The pupils made crowns and enjoyed an ice-cream from Mrs Sprinkles who came to the school in the afternoon.

Transition Activities with Primary 3B

Both Primary 3 classes enjoyed taking part in a drumming lesson with Joy Duncan.  The pupils listened well and had great fun playing the drums and copying different rhythm patterns.

Both classes also enjoyed a trip to the Sands of Sound Beach in preparation for writing a seaside poem.  The pupils worked with a partner while taking notes using a worksheet and clipboard.

The Vikings

Both Primary 3 classes performed a Viking play to parents at the end of term 3.  The pupils worked extremely hard throughout the term learning lines, making props and developing performance skills.  We were very fortunate to have input from Izzy Swanson who offered valuable assistance.
