All students within S1 receive a single period of Health & Life skills each week. The course comprises three units of study: Food Studies, Textile Studies, Emergency Life Saving Skills.
At the end of S1 students can choose to continue to study Health & Life skills. Two courses are offered: Introduction to Hospitality, Fashion & Textile Studies. Each is a two year course designed to equip students with the skills required for every day life and to prepare them for further study in their chosen subject area. Within S2/3 students receive 2 periods of HLS per week.

Safety in the textiles room- recognising danger Recognising and using small items of equipment Design Briefs and specifications The sewing machine – parts & use Practical sewing skills Computer aided manufacture (Machine embroidery) Fibres and fabrics Evaluating against design brief/specification Textile labelling
