English and RMPS (Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies)

The Peebles High School English Department is committed to promoting the importance of literacy and developing a reading culture within the school community. We believe that the classroom is an important space for the exploration of our own values, ideas and identity. We aim to empower students to become critical thinkers and effective communicators to equip them for both their school lives, and futures beyond the classroom.

RMPS at Peebles High School challenges pupils to engage with and explore some of life’s big questions. Young people study moral issues, philosophical ideas and the core elements of major world religions. They also apply their learning to real life ethical issues, developing their critical thinking, research and communication skills.
