Curriculum

At Struthers we provide a range of rich learning experiences for children to meet their individual needs and development.

All of our learning is provided through fun play based experiences in a stimulating, interesting environment where children can explore and be curious together.

Our children in the 2 year old room are tracked using 2 year old development milestones in wellbeing, movement and co-ordination, confidence creativity and curiosity, literacy, and numeracy.

From aged 3 to going to school children are provided with learning from Curriculum for Excellence, Scotland’s national curriculum from the age of 3 – 18. Experiences in the Early Level provide children with a range of experiences across 8 curricular areas: literacy, math’s and numeracy, health and wellbeing, expressive arts, religious and moral education, technology, social studies, and science.

As well as this in the pre-school year children are tracked against pre-school developmental milestones to support their learning and development as they begin to transition to primary education.

Where a child has an identified barrier to their learning (such as speech and language difficulties, autism, wellbeing needs amongst others), they may be tracked using Additional Support Needs (ASN) tracking to ensure that all of our children can achieve in their learning.

All children’s learning is recorded and tracked using Learning Journals – an online platform that allows us to communicate children’s learning and experiences home. It also allows families to share children’s home experiences with the centre so we can use children’s interests to provide tailored learning experiences.
