Welcome

Welcome to the South Ayrshire Council Health and Wellbeing website.

To equip our children and young people for life in the 21st century, we must recognise the importance of health & wellbeing (HWB).  Each learning community, working with all partners including parents/carers, should take a holistic approach to promoting HWB, one that takes account of the stage of growth, development and maturity of each individual and the social and community context.

Together we share the responsibility for creating a positive ethos and climate of respect and trust – one in which everyone can make a positive contribution to the wellbeing of each individual within the school and the wider community.

Learning within HWB ensures that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities and attributes which they need for mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing now and in the future.

In South Ayrshire we aspire for our children and young people to be able to:

  • Make informed decisions in regard to their mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing;
  • Experience healthy living;
  • Apply their knowledge and skills related to mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing to pursue a healthy lifestyle;
  • Make a successful move to the next stage of education or work; and
  • Follow a healthy lifestyle resulting in strong HWB which will be sustained into adult life, and which will help to promote the positive HWB of residents of South Ayrshire.

Our Health and Wellbeing curricular framework details progression from early to fourth level.

You will find a wealth of resources listed for staff, parents, children and young people and partners.

However whilst we have tried to categorise resources all visitors to this website can access all information.
