Vision, Values and Aims

Vision

Heathfield School community revisited the school’s vision early in 2015 and agreed the following:

  • We will inspire all children and adults to become confident individuals, responsible citizens, effective contributors and successful learners
  • We will provide a stimulating environment where the members of the school community are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning
  • We will continue to embrace ‘Curriculum for Excellence’, ensuring that the school is an inclusive, safe, active and engaging place to be
  • We will create an environment where the learning community shares a sense of belonging and meets challenges of the changing world, encompassing technology, life skills and environmental awareness
  • We will encourage young people and adults to collaborate to develop and maintain a rights-respecting school community based on the Convention of the Rights of the Child, in all areas and all aspects of school life

In carrying out our responsibilities we will:

  • Nurture and develop shared values, traditions and culture
  • Encourage all to make healthy life choices
  • Inspire all to be the best they can be
  • Work in partnership with parents, wider community and other agencies to maximise achievement and individual potential

Values

Prestwick Cluster worked hard to develop a set of shared values which should be evident in everyday life in every school in the cluster. These values are highlighted on a daily basis and are:

  • Honesty
  • Compassion
  • Integrity
  • Equity
  • Respect

By promoting these values, Heathfield Primary is confident that staff and pupils can be: responsible citizens; confident individuals; effective contributors and successful learners.

Statement of School Aims and Commitment

All staff at Heathfield Primary School share the national ambition of continually striving to improve the quality of the education we provide by enabling all children to fulfil their potential as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society.

‘A Curriculum for Excellence’ challenges us to achieve this aim and provides an important impetus to achieving our vision for our children, that all should be valued by being safe, nurtured, achieving, healthy, active, included, respected and responsible.

The school plays its part in upholding the values of South Ayrshire Council by promoting social inclusion through partnership working and raising standards in a qualitative way.
