Belleisle Outdoor Learning Trips

We have planned an outdoor learning programme with the EYC and Primary 1, which links with our current topics.  We will be visiting Belleisle Park in Ayr and exploring the environment, looking for signs of Autumn.  This is a great opportunity for our pre-school children to work alongside P1 as part of their ongoing Early level transition.

The children have been organised into mixed year groups, and will be accompanied by members of staff.   We have hired the Community minibus, which Susan will be driving. The mini-bus will leave the school at 9.30am returning at 2.40pm.  All children will require to wear a face covering on the bus.  We have some face coverings which can be provided if children do not have their own one.

Please note that not all children will be going this coming Monday. Please check the letter which was sent to see the date which your child’s group will be going on this trip.

Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather e.g. jacket, scarf, hat, gloves, wellies with warm socks.  We will provide a small snack and the kitchen staff will also provide a packed lunch which we will have at Belleisle.  Please do not send any additional food or drinks.

Thank you!

Gardenrose Primary 1 (2020 – 2021)

Welcome to the Primary 1 page! This page will be regularly updated with information about our learning through the year, as well as photos of all our hard work.

Literacy

In Term 1, we are working on all our initial sounds – we have already covered s, a, t, p, i and n. To help us learn these, you can listen to the Jolly Phonics songs on YouTube. As well as this we are looking at the story of Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle. Feel free to use the resource below to download the story to practise with your child at home – ask them to show you our fun actions. Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle

Maths

In Maths we are learning our numbers to 10 this term using the Ten Town program. Use games such as this Underwater Counting game to help your child to practise counting to 10. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/underwater-counting

Topic

This term we are looking at the Percy the Park-Keeper books, with a focus on Seasons and Woodland environments. When you are out for a walk, try to spot some signs of the changing seasons.

P.E.

P.E. days for Primary 1 are Wednesday and Friday.  Try to make sure your child has outdoor appropriate shoes with them on these days. Full P.E. kit is not needed this term for Primary 1, as P.E. lessons will take place outside.
