Ayr Academy
Ayr Academy is one of eight secondary schools within South Ayrshire which is located in South West Scotland.
We are a six year non-denominational comprehensive school.
The school roll over the last five years has been between 400 and 700.
The primary schools associated with Ayr Academy are Dalmilling Primary and Newton Primary both based in the north of the town and Annbank Primary and Coylton Primary which are both villages on the outskirts of Ayr.
The former school building was on Fort Street in the centre of Ayr. A school had been on this site since 1233. In August 2017 we moved to a new building situated within the Craigie Estate. The University of the West of Scotland and the Ayr Campus of the Ayrshire College are very close by.
It is a modern school designed to support Learning and Teaching in the 21st Century and is well equipped to prepare our young people to make a positive contribution to society.
It has a capacity for approximately 1100 pupils which will meet the demands of an increasing population in Ayr over the next few decades.
In broad terms, the aims of Ayr Academy are:
To provide the best educational opportunities possible to enable all pupils to achieve and fulfil their potential.
To encourage the development of the personal, social and intellectual skill to enable our pupils to take a responsible place in society.
To be a purposeful and caring community where everyone feels valued and where talent and ability are encouraged.
To emphasise success and achievement for all of our pupils.
