Stay safe in the sunshine

With all this lovely sunshine we are having,  please remember to stay safe in the sun and follow these rules. This is for both adults and children.

Have fun everyone and enjoy your time outdoors.

Why don’t you let us know what you are doing outside – Leave us a comment. We would love to hear from you all!

Monday’s Magic trick!

We all love magic tricks! Now you can learn a new trick at home! All you need is a plate with some water, paper towel and coloured pens… And of course – your imagination! We can’t wait to hear what you think!

A challenge for Wednesday!

We have been having such great weather. The sun is always welcome, but have you noticed that when we are outside, some areas are not in the sun?  I wonder why that is?

All the staff are setting you a challenge today……………

Can you spot any shadows when you are outside?

Can you make shadows when you are on your daily walk or taking your daily exercise?

Can you make shadows with your toys?

Can you draw round the shadows that your toys make?

Please let us know how you get on. You can take some pictures and send them to our Facebook page or leave a comment here on our blog and someone will reply.  We are so excited to see and hear how you get on.

Active coping calendar

A post from Stephanie ………

This is something Stephanie has found helpful through this difficult time, helping to keep the days as normal as they can be during these past few weeks. You could use it as a family and complete some of the tasks together.

It would be great if you could take photos and let us know how you are getting on.

Missing you all look after yourself and each other, stay safe.

Family fun flight

While working in one of the nursery hubs last week I noticed some of the children were looking for a little challenge. So we decided to make our own runway and paper aeroplanes. We marked lines on the floor using sheets of cut up paper and then made a starting line. Using measuring tapes we measured the distances and marked these on the floor, (we were inside but this can easily be taken outdoors too.)

If you are like me this diagram could come in handy as I am not the best at making these. However the children were all very good. Giving them step by step instructions to follow you can watch them become aeronautical engineers (aeroplane designers)!

This can be a good family activity.

Let’s see who can make a flying paper plane…

Which one can fly the furthest?

Discuss measure and distance as well as having fun and being active.

Enjoy and please remember to let us know how you all get on by leaving a comment.

Boys and girls we are all missing you and your families.

Tuesday ………. Hello from Twiggle!

Hello everybody! We just had a special message from our friend, Twiggle! I think he is missing us all a lot…

“Hello, boys and girls! I hope you are all staying safe at home with your families. I just wanted to let you know that I am staying safe at nursery and in my own home – my shell! Henrietta the Hedgehog, Duke the Dog and Daphne the Duck are all staying in their houses, too. I miss them and I miss you all but I have got lots to do here at nursery! I am making sure that all of the toys stay safe and behave themselves! I like to play with the trains the most! I will leave a message for you all again soon. And remember – if this difficult situation makes you feel a little bit anxious or uncomfortable, remember that How to Do Turtle technique helps! Stay safe boys and girls and have lots of fun at home! I miss you!”

WOW! Isn’t it super nice to get a special message from Twiggle?! We sure miss him, too! Why don’t you show off your Doing the Turtle skills to your families? We know you are super good at it! Here is a little reminder…

Supertato to the rescue!

Here we have one of our favoruite stories – Supertato! Let’s have a listen…

Can you create/make your own Supertato…?
What are your favourite vegetables from the story…?
Are they healthy…?

Have a chat with your family!

Superman dance!

Hello everybody! We hope you are staying safe and having fun. Let’s move around today! Let’s exercise those muscles and show off our super dance moves! It’s one of our favourites – the Superman dance! Are you ready? One, two, three… Here we go!

How did it make you feel?!
Did your heart started beating any different?
Do you feel warm or cold?

There are so many good things that come from exercising! Not only do we get better and better at moving our bodies but it also helps us burn energy and in the end – feel more relaxed! We hope you enjoyed it 🙂

Welcome back!

Hello everyone! We are missing you so much and can’t wait until we see you all again… But we do really hope you’re staying safe! We hope you had a lovely Easter and used your imagination to think of lots of activities to stay busy during these difficult times.

Let’s get moving – we all know how important exercising is! It gets our heart pumping, muscles stretching and lungs expanding!

We are also super excited to let you know that we have opened up our comments on this very blog – we are hoping to hear from you – how you are getting on, what you have been up to and of course, any recommendations for what you’d like to see on the blog! In order to leave a comment, click on “Leave a reply” on top of the blog post.

The staff would love to hear from you all!
