Let’s be kind
Today in nursery we have been talking about people that we are not able to see at the moment and people we are missing. We made lovely cards for our local care home residents too. Hope they enjoy. 😊
Is there anyone you are missing? Why don’t you make them a beautiful picture or card and post it to them. Everyone loves to get a surprise picture or card through the post.
Lets keep everyone smiling!

It’s snowing again!
Hello everyone, can you believe it we have snow again. Let’s use this time to try these activities again.
Sledging
Have you got a your sledge ready? You can enjoy sledging around your garden with some help from mum and dad or you could go to your local park and enjoy sledging down some hills.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a sledge an old baking tin or a bin bag works a treat 🙂 let’s see what other things you can find that can be used in the snow.
Do You Want To Build A Snowman?
You could go into your garden and build your own Olaf!
What do you need to build a snowman?
Snow Painting
Let’s add some colour to the snow.
If you have some paint then add a little bit into either a plastic sports bottle with some water or a spray bottle and shake it until its all mixed.
If you don’t have some paint at home then add some food colouring to a bottle of water and create your masterpiece using that.
Take It Indoors
If you’re getting too cold out there then why not bring some snow indoors. Get a large bowl or a tray, fill it with snow and continue to enjoy exploring it…how long will it last inside before it melts? Why does that happen?
You can also use your paint or food colouring mixture inside, but brushes dipped in to the mixture may work better indoors (and be a bit less messy).
Please enjoy the snow, enjoy playing with your family and siblings and creating amazing things with it.

On the week of Burns day
Good morning Everyone.
On Monday 25th January 2021 it would have been a very special Scottish mans birthday today his name was Robert Burns. To celebrate Robert Burns birthday every year we have a special day called Burns day. Lots of you shared your celebrations with us on Seesaw, we loved to see these so thank you very much.
Here is one of our favourite stories in nursery but with a little difference can you tell me what is different about this Gruffalo story?
Is there any mums and dads that can read this story with all the Scottish words? Give it a try and let us know how you get on.

Target Practice – Lets have fun!
Hello everyone here are some exciting target games for you try out.
You will need…Some toilet/kitchen roll tubes, balls and a box 🙂 you can also use a nerf gun if you have one to try and knock the balls down or you could use another ball…take aim…and throw!
Mums and dads target games can be used to help children development movement skills, movement strategies and movement concepts.
It can help the to develop; fair play, turn taking, sharing of resources, leadership, teamwork and communication skills through team sport activities.
Develops accuracy and control while having fun! Remember practice makes perfect.
Enjoy and please share any photos or recordings on Seesaw. Can not wait to see how you all get on.
Are you missing your friends?
Whilst you are at home you just might be missing some of your nursery friends. Why not write your friend a note ? You can tell them what you have been doing in the house and what you are missing about your friends . This can be a good opportunity to discuss your feelings and will also be nice to hear what your friends miss about you. We will arrange for these to be displayed in our nursery room when we are back.
This can be completed in many different ways, you can allow your child to freely mark make and draw or they can talk to you as you write it for them.

Our new name cards
In the butterfly room the children have shown an interest in their own names and the similarities between their friends names, “We have the same start name.”
To help develop this we have been using new name cards for the children to choose their lunch for that day. These cards have been giving our children more opportunities to recognise their own names and also copy/write their names.
Here are some other ideas of helping children recognise their name and also identify and match letters in their names and family members names.
You can use items such as; shaving foam, flour, rice, bubble bath and conditioner. Or if you are lucky enough to have a garden with sticks and stones you can give this a try too.
