Forest Kindergarten

The boys and girls have been so excited about exploring our local park! We decided that today we would wrap up warm, put our wellies on and go for a walk to Barshaw Park!

When we entered the park, we noticed that it was very quiet… There were barely any people there, but us!

G: “It’s very quiet today, it’s usually busy.”
L: “There aren’t even many dogs!”

It seemed that we had the park to ourselves and we made the most out of it! We went on a hunt for Autumn treasures – we found lots of leaves of different colours, twigs, sticks, but… We couldn’t find any conkers!

O: “I can’t see any conkers!”
SB: “It’s because the squirrels ate them!”
G: “Look, I’ve found an eaten conker!”

WOW, what a great discovery! We also found golden leaves, green leaves, orange leaves and brown leaves! We decided that they’re all lying on the floor because the trees are getting ready for winter time.

After our hunt, we had a lovely picnic! We re-charged our batteries with healthy fruit and a drink of milk and water. When we were sitting down, we noticed that we were getting more and more cold…

L: “It’s because it’s foggy today.”
H: “It’s very cold!”
L: “I’m as cold as an ice-cube!”

We decided to do some excercise and run about for a while to warm up! The boys and girls were noticing the change in their bodies caused by excercise – we were getting warmer, our cheeks were becoming red and our hearts were beating faster and faster. We all know that excercise makes us strong and healthy. We all had so much fun at the Forest Kindergarten today, we can’t wait to go back!

(Can you please ensure that your child has got wellies and warm clothing including hats, scarves and gloves, so your child is warm and comfortable and enjoys their Forest Kindergarten experience. Thank you.)
