PATHS – Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies

Here at Woodlands Primary School, we use the PATHS programme throughout the school as a universal, evidence-based, social and emotional learning schools programme.

The PATHS® Programme promotes positive mental health and emotional well-being in schools which empowers all children to develop the fundamental social and emotional learning skills which will enable them to make positive choices throughout life.

The PATHS® Programme is a universal evidence-based programme delivered in primary schools by classroom teachers. PATHS teaches pro-social skills, emotion understanding, social problem-solving and self-control. It covers five domains of social and emotional development:

  • Self-control
  • Emotional understanding
  • Positive self-esteem
  • Relationships
  • Interpersonal problem-solving skills
