P2 Term 3 Newsletter

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. It’s great to see the children back and hear all their Christmas stories.  We were so proud of their wonderful Nativity performance and I know they all enjoyed meeting Santa at the end of last term.

This term we will be teaching skills and knowledge and understanding through the themes of Sun, Moon and Stars and Eid Il Fitr.

We will also be looking at Chinese New Year and Robert Burns.  The children continue to have regular reading, spelling and maths homework and your support in this is vital to your child’s success.  Could you please ensure that your child brings their reading book to school every day as they may use this in class even when it is not a reading day.

We would really appreciate more volunteers from Primary 2 parents to come in and talk about their job at World of Work week. We want the children to hear about as many different occupations as possible and I would encourage you to play a role in this. Teachers are on hand to ask relevant questions and the sessions are very short and informal. If you are interested please contact Mrs.Wiszniewski. The week starts on Monday 22nd February.

Teachers are keen to work in partnership with parents and strive to keep you informed. There will be a parents evening in April however please do not hesitate to contact us with any concerns before that. We would like to see parents in and around the school on a more regular basis and would like to offer library sessions during World Book Week for you to visit the school library with your child during this week.

Thank you for your continuing support.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. It’s great to see the children back and hear all their Christmas stories.  We were so proud of their wonderful Nativity performance and I know they all enjoyed meeting Santa at the end of last term.

This term we will be teaching skills and knowledge and understanding through the themes of “Welcoming a Baby”, “Winter” and a “Grandparents” topic. The children will be asked to investigate aspects of the past at home from elderly relatives. We will also have a special Grandparents afternoon where grandparents will be invited to come in to class and share activities with the children.

We have a special Scottish Assembly and will learn more about Robert Burns for this. The children continue to have regular reading, spelling and maths homework and your support in this is vital to your child’s success. Children are beginning to put sounds together to create words and writing independently in the classroom.  You can use the individual sounds at home to encourage this.

As yet we have no volunteers from Primary 1 parents to come in and talk about their job at World of Work week. We want the children to hear about as many different occupations as possible and I would encourage you to play a role in this.  Teachers are on hand to ask relevant questions and the sessions are very short and informal.  If you are interested please contact Mrs.Wiszneiwski.  The week starts on Monday 22nd February.

Stir a pancake

Pop it in a pan

Fry the pancake

Toss the pancake

Catch it if you can!
