World of Work Week P6
During World of Work Week, Primary 6 had a visitor called Ryan Robinson. He works as a Recruitment Manager. He helps people find a job that’s suitable for them. He worked as a footballer for 8 years but when he had to find a full time job it was hard because he said he didn’t work hard at school. However when he got that job he has stuck at it for 9 years. At the end we gave him a little gift of a West Primary pen for coming in to talk to us.
Mother’s Day Competition
Sunday 6th March was Mother’s day and at West it’s tradition to do a mother or carer competition . In each class there is a winner but to win in your class you have to write a few nice things about your mother/carer. The schools winners were: 3rd place was a primary 3, 2nd place was a primary 2 and in 1st was a joint winner a brother and sister.
Mr Sweenie – World of Work Week
Mr Sweenie came to talk to Primaries 1 and 5 about his job. Mr Sweenie’s job is about refrigeration which can involve helping to fix fridges. His company has fridges in Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury, and many more shops! He brought in some ice to show us as well. He very kindly gave every pupil a pencil case which is very useful!

Primary 7 World of Work – Lauren
As well as having the Recruitment Manager, P7 also had a visit from Lauren, a Manager at Aldi, who told them skills about her job so that we could guess it before she left. Everyone enjoyed hearing about her job and guessing about her profession as a manager.
Paisley Sea Cadets Visit
On Monday we had a talk from a Sea Cadets Leader. She told us that you have amazing adventures and do lots of fun things like sailing, rowing, power boating (which is using a boat that has an electric engine), kayaking, orienteering, first aid, navigation, cooking and adventure training. So lots of fun stuff!
They have a ship called the TS Royalist and you can go on it! However you can only go on it when you are 13. We had an amazing time! Most of P6 and P7 really want to become a Sea Cadet. Thank you Sea Cadets for coming in to see us and giving us the brilliant presentation!
Sonja Stokoe Primary 5 – World of Work Week
Someone came in to talk to us a few weeks ago. She was called Sonja Stokoe and it was also Annabelle’s mum. First we had to guess her job but nobody could guess it. She just told us anyway and it was marketing – also known as advertising . Then we played two fun games. First we had to guess slogans then after that we had to guess the logoss but sadly she had to go. That was fine with Annabelle!
P4&5 World of Work with Mrs Hart
Mrs Hart works as a call handler at the Golden Jubilee Hospital. It was really funny to hear what she was telling us about. She told us about a man that had stubbed his toe so hard that he said it had fallen off but she didn’t understand because he still had his shoe on! She played Chinese Whispers with us and she said Primary 5 were better at it than Primary 4 were because we heard it a bit better! She was really kind and she got a box of chocolates and a pen in a velvet case. Primary 4 and 5 thanked her and she gave us all a sweet. We all miss her very much.
P2 topics
Primary 2 have been learning about the Sun, Moon and the Stars. They’ve also been learning about Chinese New Year and have made some patterns out of paper and some Chinese Lanterns. Mr Johnston’s class (2c) have also been learning about the senses. Primary 2 have enjoyed learning about these topics and are excited to learn about some new ones!
