P5a had a great time at Paisley Museum learning all about weaving. We were shown different fibers and materials. We created our own weaving pattern which will be put together to create a large Paisley pattern picture. Thanks to the staff at the Museum for being so helpful and enthusiastic.

On Friday 17 November we will be supporting Children in Need by having a non uniform day, this year’s theme is “Spotacular” so you could wear spotty clothing if you have any or maybe some spotty face paint.

We hope everyone will bring money as we will have a “chuck it in the bucket” for donations to Children in Need. We will also be having a mini talent show for all the pupils to enjoy.

Time to clear out your cupboards for Christmas! P2 are planning to hold a Bring and Buy Sale in the school hall on Wednesday 29 November.  So please take time to clear out your unwanted toys, DVDs, CDs, books etc.  All donations of items in good condition will be welcome.

Children should bring their donations to school from Monday 6 November. All monies raised through this enterprise will support activities in school.

Do you have any unwanted clothing cluttering up your wardrobes? If so please help us to raise funds for our school by filling the Rag Bag and return to school on Thursday 16^th November 2017 (We can only accept Rag Bags on the morning of this day.)

Any unwanted wearable clothing, all fashions, all ages, paired shoes, handbags and belts are welcome.

Children will be rewarded with 10 Eco house points.

Many of you will be aware that the school is benefitting from additional funding from the Scottish Government. This has allowed us to have more teaching staff to support Language and Maths. Time has been identified on Friday afternoons and our four additional staff are running clubs for Primaries 4 to 7.

• Primaries 4 and 5 are working with recipes and cooking. For all children this will support their Literacy skills, social interaction with peers and skills for life in the kitchen.
• Primary 6 are taking part in a board games club and some in a book club. For all children this will support their Literacy skills and social interaction with peers.
• Primary 7 are working on a magazine to be published at Christmas time. For all children this will support their Literacy skills, social interaction with peers, encourage self-confidence and working as a team.

Our hope is to involve as many children as possible in these clubs over the course of the session. The clubs are already underway with the first groups. Please contact the school if you have any concerns.

We are having a coffee morning to support the charity Macmillan Cancer Relief on Friday 29^th September it will be a non uniform day with a chuck it in the bucket donation and you can bring 30p for a cake on this day.

Broomlands are the winners of this year’s house competition. Well done!

The reward is on the morning of Monday 26th June 9am – 12pm approximately.

Children in Broomlands should wear sports clothing to this outing.

Maxwellton are the winners of this term’s house competition!

We are having a Beach Party to celebrate on Friday 23^rd June.

Children in Maxwellton have been asked that they wear summer beach clothing to this.

Just a reminder about school uniform as you consider new clothing for next session.

• Our uniform is grey – skirts or trousers. Castlehead High School wear black;
• Jumpers, sweatshirts and cardigans should be grey or royal blue;
• All Primary 7 pupils will need a white shirt and tie for the numerous events that they take part in throughout their last year;
• Hair accessories are best in colours that complement our uniform;
• No hooded sweatshirts to be worn in school;
• No inappropriate logos on jumpers or sweatshirts;
• All clothing should be appropriate for school. We are aware that some clothing is more suited for after school even though it is in school colours.

On the days when the children are allowed to come in their own clothes, please support us by ensuring that the children are sensibly dressed in comfortable, casual clothing and that they are not wearing skimpy, strappy tops or crop tops.  Outdoor coats and jackets are also needed on these days.  On most of these days, the children will continue to follow their usual timetable so normal PE kit of shorts, T-shirt and clean trainers or sandshoes will be needed.
