Wider Achievement

“WIDER ACHIEVEMENT RECOGNISES THE LIFE AND WORK SKILLS THAT COME FROM A WIDE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES WHICH CAN INCLUDE SPORT, MENTORING, VOLUNTARY WORK OR FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES — WHETHER THEY TAKE PLACE AT SCHOOL, COLLEGE OR ELSEWHERE.” SQA Wider Achievement

In Trinity High School, both attainment and achievement are valued equally, and we strive to ensure that all our young people are given the opportunity to succeed in all aspects of their learning across the school.

In Trinity High School we work together as a school community to develop, promote, and sustain an aspirational vision for our curriculum. Our curriculum is grounded in our commitment to securing children’s rights and wellbeing. The curriculum is regularly reviewed and refreshed by an informed awareness of current education thinking and evolves through ongoing debate within the school community. This is also embedded in skills for learning, life and work which is emphasised throughout both the curriculum and wider achievement. In each subject, as well as co-curricular activities, our staff provide well-planned opportunities for learners to develop an awareness of the world of work.

Overall, our learners are successful, who confidently exercise responsibility and contribute to the life of the school, wider community, and as global citizens. Throughout our wider achievement programme THS ensures that each learner can:

  • develop self-confidence and self-belief in what they can achieve
  • improve the ‘soft skills’ involved in communication and team working
  • gain transferable employability skills
  • remove social and economic barriers
  • expand creativity
  • improve punctuality
  • gain experience in problem solving, planning and responsibility.

At Trinity High School, wider achievement is recognised and celebrated throughout the following:

  • House Point System
  • Departmental Praise Cards
  • Senior Award Ceremony
  • Junior Award Ceremony
  • Values Badges
  • Twitter Updates
  • Parental Digital Newsletter
