Sciences in the Curriculum

Science plays a vital role in everyday life as we use its applications at home, at work and in leisure. The application of science is central to our economic future and our health and wellbeing as individuals and as a society. Through learning in science, pupils gain an interest in and understanding of the world around them.

Scotland has a long tradition of scientific discovery and excellence in innovation and technological advancement. Through learning in science and technologies, pupils will develop the interests, skills and abilities that will help them to continue to contribute to this longstanding impact of Scottish society.

P4 Mr Lardner 046

We have in place a structured science programme which is used throughout the session.

The main elements of this subject are:

  • Living Things and the Processes of Life
  • Energy and Forces
  • Earth and Space

These areas can be covered as discrete topics or, as is more common, they are integrated into cross curricular topics.
