Expressive Arts – Monday 30th March
So you think you can dance?
Now is your time to prove it.
The challenge this afternoon is to create a new dance to your favourite song.
Think about the style of music and the beat before you create your moves.
Teach it to someone else in your house.
Feel free to use TikTok or groups like Diversity as inspiration.
Monday 30th March – Outdoor Counting and Estimating
Time for some fun!
Today we are going to try and get outside for some counting and estimating. You can use your garden for this or a safe space indoors. If you can’t get to the garden, make sure you ask your parent/carer if they are happy for you to use the ball inside.
Remember to wash your hands as soon as you are back inside.
BALL GAMES
You can use a variety of items to practice counting and estimating skills. (Remember: estimate = educated guess)
Task 1
- Predict how many times you can bounce and catch a ball in a minute.
- Who can throw and catch a ball in the air the most times without dropping it?
Task 2
You will need to work with your adult or sibling for this one!
- Can you and a partner roll a ball 20 times between you in a minute?
- Count how many times your partner can catch a ball without dropping it.
Make sure you ask your parent/carer if they are happy for you to use the ball inside.
Literacy : Monday 30th March
Task One : Time for a chat
With a partner have a chat about the following points?
Discussion points
- What do you think of this setting?
- What happens if the ball goes off the pitch!
- Is this a good place to play football? Why/why not?
- Who cuts the grass?!
- Which half/side do you think has the advantage?
- If you were playing here, how would you adapt to this pitch?
- Why do you think this pitch was built here?
Task Two : Writing time
You are a journalist for the Glencoats Times. You have heard about this strange football pitch from an anonymous source. Write a newspaper article about the football pitch.
Remember to :
- write a short introduction
- create a title for your piece (extra points for humor!)
- send it to your teacher when you are finished
Friday 27th March – Art
The news can sometimes feel quite scary but we think it is important to spread some positivity.
So your challenge for today is to create a poster or a picture to display in your window to help lift people’s spirits. Lets make a Glencoats Tresure Hunt.
Our theme is Pirates so you could draw a pirate ship, a parrot or a treasure chest or anything else Pirate related!
Miss Harvey is going to drive around on Saturday morning to see how many she can find so make sure they can be seen!
Spread the word around the other classes! Tell your siblings and email your friends to get drawing and displaying their pictures on their windows for all to see.
Have a walk around over the weekend and see how many you can find!
Friday 27th March – Addition
Board games are a fantastic way for us to work on our addition skills!
Find a board game to play as a family and use your addition skills to add scores and count.
Some great examples are :
- monopoly
- scrabble
- darts
Or if you are feeling SUPER creative you could make an addition themed board game ! Make sure it is bright and colourful and send your teacher a picture on Seesaw or a video of you playing!
Friday 27th March – Literacy
In your Home Learning Book open it up at pg 1 – The Chocolate Factory
Task One
Read the passage. Using your favourite colour underline any ambitious vocabulary that we could add to the inspiration wall when we return to class. Make sure an send me your suggestions on Seesaw.
Task Two
Read and answer the six questions in your booklet. Use the passage to help you find the answers.
Task Three
Draw your ideal chocolate bar and label with ingredients. Miss Harvey’s would have a salted caramel centre, Mrs Murphy’s would be milk chocolate and dark chocolate with hazelnuts, salted caramel and some nougat and Miss McPhee would have a chocolate bar coated in hundereds and thousands with little marshmallows inside. YUM!

Thursday 26th March Handwashing Writing
An important way to help keep ourselves safe and well over this time is to make sure we are all using proper handwashing techniques.
Watch this video about how to properly wash your hands.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seA1wbXUQTs
In your jotter write step by step instructions telling me how to wash my hands properly.
Make sure to :Β Β
- use bossy verbs (called imperative verbs!) like do, put, get. Make sure they tell me EXACTLY what to do
- keep the instructions short and simple, so I don’t get confused
- tell me how long to wash my hands for – this is important!
- send me a picture so I can try to follow your instructions
