Wednesday 22nd April – Music

Alan Menken is a very famous composer. He says that the music is one of the most important parts of a film and that often he is given the idea for a film and he creates the music first!

He believes that music scores should be iconic and that the music is the structure to a story, it is the glue that holds everything else together.

So to see if this is true we are going to do a Disney song quiz. You will listen to 10 seconds of a  song and try to guess the name of the song and the film it is from.

Ask yourselves these questions

  1. Can I picture this film in my head?
  2. Can I remember what is happening while this song is playing?
  3. What character sings this song?

RME – Tuesday 21st April

During the spring holiday, many Christians celebrated Easter on Sunday 12th April.

It is an important Christian celebration. Tell an adult at home your answer.

Retell the Easter story using a comic strip.

Remember comics are :

bright and colourful

use onomatopoeia (words that make the sound like splash!)

tell the main parts of the story in the correct order

Good morning!

Everyone has heard of the rule “i before e, except after c”.

However, today we are going to be working on some of the exceptions to this rule. These words to not fit the pattern.

This can be something we find tricky and it can be confusing to remember!

  1. ceiling

  4. science
  5. eight
  6. vein
  7. height
  8. foreign
  9. conscience
  10. efficient

Write each word 3 times.

Find the meaning of each word

Write a sentence for each word.

Pick two active spelling activities to complete for each word. A spelling menu has been emailed out to pick from.

 

 

Lockdown Handprint – Monday 20th April

Make your own family handprint memory of ‘Lockdown 2020’ using 3 simple ingredients.

500g of plain flour

250g of salt

250-300ml of luke warm water.

 

Method:

Preheat oven to low setting (approx. 75 degrees)

Mix salt & flour together with hands

Gradually add the water and mix until the dough is combined (you may not need all of it)

Flour surface and rolling pin and roll out dough to roughly 1-1.5cm thick (any shape can be cut for your dough)

Place all the family’s hands on dough and press firmly

Place dough carefully onto a metal baking sheet and cook in oven for 3-4 hours until solid.

Decorate as you wish!

Good morning and welcome back!

It has been a really busy two weeks for us all and I am sure there are lots of interesting and imaginative ways you spent an unusual Spring holiday.

Can you write about what you did over the holiday and email your news to your teacher on GLOW or send a picture on Seesaw? Remember, the purpose of this piece of writing is to be read so include as much detail for your reader as you can! Feel free to attach any pictures of these activities that you would want your teacher to see !

The holiday’s are almost upon us and it is important that they get of to a great start.

We get lots of opportunities to be Pupil of the Day throughout the school year but for adults at home, older siblings and your teachers they don’t get a chance to have a turn.

Today to spread some positivity, it is your job to design a compliment list for a special person. Make sure it is bright and colourful with their name and lots of things they like.

Thursday 2nd April – Literacy

Yesterday we were looking at some famous fables.

We learned that a fable is a story about an animal or plant that the writer gives human characteristics, like being able to speak.

The story has a moral that tries to teach the reader a lesson.

Today your challenge is to use what you have learned yesterday to write your own fable. Teach your reader a positive lesson, like always be kind.

Add some beautiful illustrations of your character and don’t forget to send your fable to your teacher!
