Health and Wellbeing Education
Health and Wellbeing in schools covers:
•Mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing;
•Planning for choices and changes;
•Physical education, physical activity and sport;
•Substance misuse;
•Relationships, sexual health and parenthood.
Health and wellbeing cannot exist in a vacuum. It requires exchange of information, mutual support and collaboration with community partners, schools and parents.
Physical Education
All pupils are allocated 2 hours of PE per week. During this time the children experience a P.E. programme that ensures continuity and progression throughout the school and is made up of dance, games, gymnastics and athletics.
In East Fulton our children acquire and practice skills, which equip them for an active and healthy lifestyle. In P6 swimming lessons take place at ON-X, for one term. A range of extracurricular sports activities, are offered to our pupils by our own staff and our active schools co-ordinator.
All pupils are expected to bring a PE kit of shorts, T-shirt and sandshoes to school as necessary. Children are not allowed to wear jewellery of any type during P.E. All piercings must be removed as a safety precaution. The school cannot accept responsibility for the safekeeping of jewellery and each child must look after his or her own property.
Sexual Health Education
Relationships and sexual health education is delivered in East Fulton as a whole school approach which promotes health and wellbeing.
