AI Art and Image Generators #SDLW24

Two more useful tools for you to encourage your learners’ digital literacy skills – Craiyon and Ideogram.
Craiyon allows you to create AI art in a range of styles that could be used to illustrate a piece of writing, for character descriptions and much more.
Ideogram is a free-to-use AI tool that generates realistic images, posters, logos and more which could be used as part of presentations.

Remember to always consider the points raised in the challenges and risk section of the West Partnership Scoping Review (see below).

Quizalize #quizalize #SDLW24

Quizalize is an online platform for designing formative assessments that use gamification, meaning they are engaging for pupils, and allow teachers to collect real-time data on their progress. Tests can be created using ChatGPT, or alternatively they can be selected from a bank of tests readily available on a wide range of subject areas.

Why not give this a go during Scottish Digital Literacy Week 13 – 18 May?

As with all these AI tools, please consider the points raised in the challenges and risk section of the West Partnership Scoping Review (see below)

Week commencing 13 May is Scottish Digital Literacy Week. To assist your planning for this, I have included the Digital Self-Evaluation spreadsheet which is taken from Education Scotland’s Evaluating use of digital to enhance learning and teaching, features of highly effective digital learning, teaching and assessment in schools. This will help you think about your next steps.

Digital Self-Evaluation for schools

Education Scotland are hosting a number of events throughout this week and all the information can be found here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/glowblogs/digilearn/events/event/digital-literacy-week-scotland-2024/

If you have any staff members who are doing some interesting digital practice, please let me know, especially if they would be willing to share at a Teach Meet.

For staff, this is a chance to try out new things. This is Education Scotland’s Digital Skills toolkit for staff and has lots of ideas for essential and core skills.

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/glowblogs/digilearn/2023/02/09/teacher-digital-skills-toolkit/ To further support staff professional learning, we have a series of Wakelet collections which can be found here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/re/digilearnren/clpl-wakelets/ or we have our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@DigiLearnRen/videos

If you are looking for some iPad ideas, our Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) has plenty. Check out their previous sessions here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/re/renfrewshirertc/previous-sessions/ and their ideas here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/re/renfrewshirertc/12-days-of-christmas/

It gives you information on using AI to develop curriculum, learning, teaching and assessment, teacher workload and the challenges and risks posed by AI.

Whenever you are using this technology, you must always consider the ethical issues around this.
