Week beginning 27/09/16

I hope you have all been enjoying the holiday weekend. I’m looking forward to hearing about everything that P2H have been doing over the holiday in their writing tomorrow.

Homework this week will include the new spelling sound ‘qu’.
Tuesday- copy words
Wednesday- write sentences
Thursday- practice for spelling test

Maths homework will be given out as usual on Wednesday and will be on tens and units.

As the children weren’t given their book bags to take home on Thursday, parents night appointment letters were put in their school bags. Once completed could you please have the children return their letters tomorrow.

This week you will also get a letter regarding our open afternoon. This will be an opportunity for one parent/guardian to visit the class and see some of the work we have been doing over the last term.

Finally, multi -sport club starts on Tuesday at lunchtime and ballet starts on Friday at lunchtime. As the children will be keen to have their lunch quickly before their club starts, a packed lunch may be handy on these days.

Homework Update

Good evening!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Maths homework this week will be given to the children on Wednesday and this week we will be practicing number bonds of twelve.
Currently Primary 2H are given a new reading book on a Monday which is returned on a Friday when completed. Previously this homework involved set pages designated per night Monday-Thursday; however, I am aware that many children in the class are completing their book at their own pace throughout the week. Therefore, I will no longer be setting pages to be completed on specific nights. The children may complete their reading at home with you at their own pace by Friday each week. As Friday this week is a holiday, the reading will be completed by Thursday. In addition, children who are reading ‘Kate and the Sheep’ will not be assigned homework comprehension questions this week.
The children have been sharing their love of reading with me this term and it is lovely to see! Therefore, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support with your child’s learning and reading at home.

Best Wishes,
Miss Hamilton.
