Wow! What a super result we have from yesterday. One of our P4 pupils Luke has put in a huge effort and is currently the top pupil in the whole of Renfrewshire. Well done!
Although it was the weekend and going into the last week of term we obviously have some very dedicated learners who played Sumdog. Well done! Have a look at our classes to see where they are on the leaderboard now:
P3M – 13th
P4M – 16th
P6M – 22nd
P3F – 39th
P4F – 52nd
P3A – 55th
P6G – 58th
What a super result so far so keep the enthusiasm going for the rest of the week!
Well done to those of you who have taken part in the Renfrewshire Sumdog Contest so far. Below are the results from the first day (Friday 19th June). If your class has been entered into the contest, it needs 5 players to take part in order to qualify. 63 classes in Renfrewshire have qualified so far.
As you all know, we usually gather in the playground at 1pm on the last day of school to mark the closing of one school year by having the youngest and oldest pupil to ring the bell. Due to the current situation, this will not be possible but we would still like to mark this occasion.
We would love if you and your family could go into your garden or driveway and ring a bell, bang pots and pans, play an instrument, basically make some noise to show your school spirit! If you could record this and send it to bishoptonenquiries@renfrewshire.gov.uk we will collate the videos and upload them to our YouTube channel during the holidays.
We look forward to hearing the distant sounds of that Bishy school spirit at 1pm on Friday 26th June!
We will continue to offer a critical childcare service for the children of single parents who are key workers or for children with two parents if they are both key workers. We are also supporting children and young people from vulnerable families.
We have already contacted key workers and families who are currently using our service. If you think you meet the criteria for this support, you can find out more and how to apply on the council’s website.
Please take some time this afternoon to watch the talent from P1 to P7 in our school. Every year we give you the opportunity to audition for the talent show and then show your talent to the whole school in a live performance. This year, it had to be a bit different but I think you’ll agree that the end result is of a very high standard. Thank you to everyone who auditioned and a huge well done to them too.
Well, after lots of practising and filming from the pupils and some tough decision making from Mrs McNaught, Mrs Davidson, Mrs McLean, Mr McAvoy and myself, the time has come for the reveal of Bishy’s Got Talent 2020.
The hyperlink to the video will be published in your class Teams channel tomorrow afternoon. So get ready for a fun-filled video showing off talent that will blow your socks off!
If you sent an audition video to me, you will need to wait to see the video to see if you got through! Fingers crossed and well done!
We have so many talented writers in our school so why not write a story, poem, prose, article or anything you want about any British wildlife creature you fancy? You could research your house bird (eagle, falcon, hawk or osprey) and let it inspire you! P4 pupils, you have been researching and learning about mini-beasts so use this knowledge to show off your writing skills. Or use one of the many topic tasks you have already written. Good luck!
Thank you to everyone who has submitted an audition video for this year’s Talent Show. You should have received an email to confirm I have received your video. We have received a huge amount of talent and we unfortunately cannot accept any more as the closing date was yesterday. Thanks again and we look forward to posting the final show in the coming weeks.
Thank you if you have emailed me an audition video for our Talent Show. If you have sent me a video you should have received an email to confirm I have received it. If you haven’t received an email but you have sent a video, could you please re-send it? I found an audition video in my Junk folder this morning so wouldn’t want anyone to miss out!
A reminder that all talent show audition videos should be sent to me by Tuesday 26th May. Thank you!
Calling all dancers , singers , magicians, musicians, comedians , gymnasts or pretty much anyone who has a talent who would like the chance to show it off! This year we will have to organise our talent show a little bit differently because we are all at home, however we still need to let your talent shine!
So here are the rules:
Film an audition video of your talent
You can be on your own, with a family member or if you can organise it, with friends from other families (still in Bishopton Primary)
The music should be appropriate (use the clean/radio edit)
You should be appropriately dressed (not too much flesh showing, leggings under/over leotards)
Your video should be no longer than 3 minutes (approximately)
You should email the video to Miss McDowall at gw07mcdowallkaren2@glow.sch.uk for the auditions to see if you will be put through to the final show.
The final will be a compilation of all of the talent made into one video and uploaded onto YouTube where only those with the link can view it.
You must have your audition videos to Miss McDowall by Tuesday 26th May
We are looking forward to seeing all of the talent you have to offer!

Audible have made many books free to listen to on their website. From the littlest listeners to tweens! Have a look for a book you fancy, then have a listen. You could use the Three Sharings before, during and after. Enjoy!
In response to reducing risk in relations to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we will have to cancel the World of Work week (Monday 30th March to Thursday 2nd April).
Thank you so much to the parents who volunteered to come in to school to talk about their jobs and skills. We will hopefully get a chance to reschedule in the future.
