As we approach the end of the school year we would like to ask for any reading books to be returned that have perhaps been mislaid or turned up in an unusual place! Even if you have had the book for two weeks, two months or two years we would greatly appreciate any books to be returned to the teacher so we can start next session with as many reading books as possible.
Please keep an eye on your child’s class blog and/or for a letter in their bag about their class end of year assembly/open afternoon. Every stage will be hosting an event to celebrate their learning. We hope you can join them.
Could we please remind you that the return date for the class photograph orders was yesterday? We will accept orders in the envelope until Friday 31st May but will be sending the order after this. You can also order the photographs online.
We will have the Scholastic Book Fair in the Maths Room (next to the Main Office) during the Parent Appointments on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd May.
Your child will receive a leaflet about the types of books on offer and a few vouchers for books. Cash and cheques should be handed to the Book Fair Organiser on the night. All profits will go to the School Fund. Thank you in advance.
Your child has been given a letter with your parent appointment day and time. There is also a form for your child to complete with you to let us know what they would like to talk about if they come along to the meeting. Please complete and return as soon as possible.

Could we ask for all cashless payment forms to be completed and returned by Friday 10th May? If you have misplaced your form, please ask at the Office or let your child’s teacher know and we will replace it.
Your child has been given a form to be completed for the new Cashless system. This system is not just for school meals but for all money paid to the school e.g. school trips, fund raising, bake sales, etc.
Please complete the forms for every child and return ASAP.
Thank you for all of the designs handed in to the office so far. This is a reminder that the entries need to be returned by Thursday 18th April. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any late entries. See below for more information.
Every pupil was given an entry form to design the programme cover for Bishopton Day Programme 2019. The theme this year is ‘Superheroes’. The subject can be anything related to superheroes, it can even be your real life superheroes.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning designs in the following categories:
P1-2
P3-5
P6-7
All wining designs will feature in the Bishopton Day programme and the overall winner will be used for the front cover.
*Your designs should be as bright and bold as possible and please use the entire space provided with your colours going right up to the border. You do not need to include any details like headings or dates, just your fabulous designs!
Next Thursday afternoon we will have our annual House Quiz. To get into the spirit, we would encourage pupils to wear their House colours (see below) to school. This means it will be a non-uniform day but you should wear something to represent your House colours.
Our school has been entered into the Renfrewshire Sumdog Contest which runs from 8am on Friday 8th March until 8pm on Thursday 14th March
To take part, simply play Sumdog’s maths games. If you do not have your Sumdog Username and Password, please ask your teacher. Scores are based on accuracy, and questions tailored to your level – so everyone has a fair chance.
To make contests fair every pupil is limited to 1000 questions. However, it’s fun to take part even if students only answer a few questions.
The motivation is to climb the leader board and beat all other participating schools within Renfrewshire. You can also win rewards for your Sumdog account. Click here to find out more about the prizes.
Here are some things to keep in mind during the contest:
You can play at any time.
For the score to count, the Renfrewshire Maths Contest activity must be showing in the green panel on the left of the your screen when you click to start each game.
Your scores are based on correct answers.
A class’s score is the average of the scores from all students from that class who take part.
To appear on the leaderboard, at least 10 pupils from each class need to play.
As some pupils have limited computer access, every pupil is limited to 1000 contest questions. However, their free logins let them keep playing other activities afterwards.
The Renfrewshire Sumdog Contest starts at 8am on Friday 8th March and ends at 8pm on Thursday 14th March. All P2-7 pupils have been entered and at least pupils from each class need to play in order for the class to be eligible. Please play as many games as you can to help your class climb the leader board.
We will not officially be participating in Red Nose Day next week as it not one of our chosen charities for this session. If they have a red nose etc, they are welcome to wear them in the playground to show their support of the wonderful charity.
Just to confirm that Friday’s celebration of World Book Day is a non-uniform day as a thank you for the support of our reading challenge. We are not asking children to dress up as a book character but they can do so if they choose.
Thank you everyone who came along to our Maths Games Family Night. It was a huge success with a great turn out making it very busy in our Gym Hall and Dinner hall. Although we sent out invitations we never know how many people will actually turn up on the evening.
Thank you for completing the evaluation forms and the many compliments. We had lots of fun too. I hope you enjoy the activity pack(s) and continue to play, learn and have fun with your children at home. Thank you to Kyle Smith, our Cluster Numeracy Officer who planned the activities. A huge thank you to the many teachers who gave up their own time to assist in the evening’s activities – we couldn’t have done it without you!
We will take on board your comments on what we could do to improve our next family event. Many of you asked where we got the ‘magic’ chutes so here is a link to the Smart Chutes https://www.smartkids.co.uk/products/smart-chute
Thank you to everyone who helped make the night a success!
We are looking forward to seeing you all this evening. We have had a great response so it will be busy in and around the school. Could we ask you to walk to the school where possible? The top playground gates will be open for parking but as the Out of School Care will still have children leaving after 6pm, could we ask that you do not enter the car park until after 6.20pm?
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Maths Family Games Night tomorrow from 6.30-7.30pm. Remember to complete and return an evaluation form before you leave to receive a maths freebie!
Thank you for all of the RSVPs for our Family Maths Games Night on Tuesday 19th February. This is just a reminder that you should come along to the Main Office on the night between 6.30-7.30pm. This is an informal evening where you can take a handout to guide you and then play a variety of maths games at your leisure with your family. Don’t forget to sign in, have fun and get your maths freebie before you leave. We are looking forward to seeing you!
In order to help us organise the event, I would appreciate if you could complete and return the slip as soon as possible. If you are able to make it, please note how many people will be coming. If you are unable to make it, please complete and return the form.
We are excited to invite you to attend an evening of fun and learning to celebrate numeracy and maths. The event will be run by our Cluster Numeracy Co-ordinator, Mrs Kyle Smith. Please join us for a Family Maths Games Night on Tuesday, 19th February from 6.30 – 7.30pm.
You will have the opportunity to participate in some maths activities with your child/children that will demonstrate ways to further encourage and support their learning at home. This will be an informal event where you can drop in and choose the activities you want to play. As this event is open to all stages, please consider walking to the school. If travelling by car, please be considerate of the neighbouring residents.
Your oldest child has been given a return slip today. To help us organise the event, I would appreciate if you could complete and return the slip in your oldest child’s bagbelow by Tuesday 22nd January.
