Our fish have arrived! Late this afternoon Lesley, our fish scientist, delivered our fish eggs. It is now our responsibility to look after them ………. and keep them alive!
Each day a different group will be in charge of checking the temperature in the tank (3 times a day), recording the temperatures each time, replacing the ice packs (to keep the temperature at the right setting), keeping the water clean, removing any dead eggs (hopefully not) and replacing the water. All ice packs must be replaced in the freezer too so that we have a constant supply. If you are on duty on a Friday, you have an added responsibility of ensuring we have enough ice packs in the tank to keep it cool ALL weekend. Lots to do and a LOT of responsibility!
Tomorrow afternoon you will all have the opportunity to see the eggs before they start hatching which could happen any day. It’s all very exciting!
