Homework this week – book, wordwall, new sound – oa as in goat. Keep practising your Scottish poem. Most children are doing well with this. If your child is finding it difficult, please just try to learn a few lines, as long as everyone is taking part.
Maths – we start a new maths challenge sheet this week. As before, you choose the night that suits your to do this week’s maths challenge. You will find the title of this week’s maths challenge highlighted and with Monday’s date beside it.
This week the challenge involves giving directions. We use forward, right turn and left turn. The hardest thing is knowing your right from your left.
Blending booklet – this week we start our blending booklet. This week we are working on 3 letter words with a in the middle. We will be practising these words in class and ask that you practise at home too. You can make the words with the sound cards and help your child to blend the sounds together.
Personal targets – last week we started our personal targets. Targets for this term include – I can fasten my coat. I can get ready for gym. I can get ready for home. I can put on my shoes. I can brush my teeth. I know what to do with my bookbag. I can play safely in the playground. I know the routines for lunch. We will focus on one target each week. It would be very helpful if you could encourage your child to pack their own bookbag, schoolbag etc, fasten their own coat and shoes. Our aim is to encourage children to be independent.
Have a good week
