RRS Fairtrade Event

P4 learned about Fairtrade Gold. They learned  that this gold is fairly mined showing care to the environment and the miners.  They understand the importance of mining safely and when people buy jewellery with the Fairtrade gold mark,  mining communities can tackle some of the issues they face, build better lives and invest in the future.

One of Scotland’s oldest packhorse bridges.

Bridges

Children developed their skills for cooperative learning through designing and making their own bridges. They had learned about the materials and parts of five types of bridges: arched, beam, trestle, suspension and clapper bridges. The criteria were that (1)they had to design the bridge, (2) make a diagram and (3)that it had  to support a given weight. The final criteria was to have fun.

We are now looking forward to our trip to the new bridge over the Forth, the Queensferry Crossing.
