The word can be used to describe the style of music or the period in time from 1750-1810 approx. Famous composers were Mozart and Haydn. The orchestra was medium sized, the harpsichord no longer played with the orchestra. If you here it playing with an orchestra it is a piano concerto (piano being accompanied by the orchestra). Music is based around simple harmonies based around chords I, IV and V. The tempo tends to be constant and doesn’t really speed up or slow down.
