100 DISRUPTERS – THE HUNTER FOUNDATION SUPPORTS YEAR OF YOUNG PEOPLE 2018
The Hunter Foundation (“THF”) has launched a ‘100 Disrupters’ competition to support the Year of Young People 2018 in Scotland (YOYP2018.scot)
Open to any young person up to the age of 26, THF will award 100 grants of £1000 to individuals or groups who are positively disrupting Scotland.
Commenting, Sir Tom Hunter, founder of THF, said:
“We are looking to back young people with massive ambition and the courage to take that ambition on. Whether that’s one mighty sporting challenge, changing their communities, building the next Facebook, a nascent Rabbie Burns or promoting a charity or cause that can change the face of Scotland, we want to support their ambition.
“As a fundamental, Scotland’s young people need a voice and a channel to ensure they are the next generation of leaders and importantly, that they are not just heard but their ideas embraced.”
From the ‘100 Disrupters’ competition, THF will then build a content rich platform to showcase all 100 ambitions and ensure all of Scotland can witness those ambitions either attempted or realised.
Sir Tom added, “Ambition is taking on a challenge you may not fulfil but giving it a go anyway. As John Wayne said, ‘courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway’. We hope 100 disrupters will!”
As well as being an open competition to any young person or group up to the age of 26 who is resident in Scotland, THF is partnering with a range of organisations to encourage young people to apply, including The Wood Foundation’s Youth & Philanthropy Initiative, Young Scot, Prince’s Trust, Young Enterprise Scotland, StreetSoccer, Who Cares Scotland and the Children’s Parliament. All partners will be invited to judge the winning entries.
Applications – either via a one page of script or a one minute video message – outlining a group or individual’s ambition should be emailed no later than April 30th to: disrupters@thehunterfoundation.co.uk
THF will then let all winners know directly by close of play 30th May if they have been successful as well as publishing the ‘100 disrupters’ winning ambitions on: www.thehunterfoundation.co.uk
