Pupils

Every pupil has a voice at Portmoak and has a role to play in taking our school forwards. As well as regular opportunities to review their learning and plan their next steps, pupils also help to guide the work of the school by contributing to pupil focus groups or pupil questionnaires.

A large part of our work on increasing pupil voice has been through the work of the committees. Our pupils also take part in fortnightly responsibility groups, membership of these ranges from Primary 1-7 and every single child at Portmoak has a job to do. We refreshed the way we run committees with our younger two classes providing support to the eco committees, rather than taking part in each one.

The 2023-24 P4-7 Committees are:

  • Health and Sport Committee
  • Eco Committee
  • Digital Committee
  • Junior Road Safety Officers

The Pupil Council is made up of children from P1-7. In recent years  we have changed the format for this and decided to make this separate from the usual committee slot, to increase pupil participation and engagement with this important aspect of pupil voice in our school.

Teachers, support staff, community members and parents help to run these groups. If you would like to volunteer to help with the committees please get in touch!

We have a variety of after-school clubs available for pupils. Examples of school clubs over the last couple of sessions have been: cookery, netball, fitness, dance, and cricket.

Please check with the school for the current offering of after-school activities and if you have something you would like to develop please get in touch!

Our local area is rich in natural resources and provides many additional opportunities for children and their families. RSPB Loch Leven, the Michael Bruce Way and Loch Leven Nature Trail are right on our doorstep. Loch Leven Community Campus and the Portmoak Hall also provide opportunities for out of school activities in this area. See their websites and notice boards in both locations for current clubs and activity details. Lochore Meadows is also relatively close by, with lots of additional outdoor experiences including holiday clubs.
