Mrs Herron’s Visit
Mrs Herron came to our class and showed us a little bible which was found in her roof space. It turned out to be from the 1800’s. The strange thing about it was that there was hole straight through it as if it had be nailed into something?? If anybody has any information we would love to know.
She also showed us pictures of a fantastic find in her house after all the work that has been going on there. When the wall behind a range was taken away, there was an even older one found! what a find!
Thank you Mrs Herron for coming in and showing these great finds to us!

The Dragon has come to P1/2
This week we were visited by the Friendly Dragon. He asked us to read more Fairy tales, make our reading area more welcoming and start to decorate our classroom like Fairyland.
After reading the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, we took turns to paint the beanstalk, we made little Jacks and made different textured leaves for the beanstalk. We have also started to change our Reading Corner.

Road Safety and Book Week
This week P1/2 have been doing a number of activities to help them keep safe on the roads. Soft play had a road safety theme too including a road safety game, practising on a toy zebra crossing and cutting out bright clothing to be seen.
The children were out at the zebra crossing practising Think,Stop, Look and Listen and the Green Cross Code to help them cross the road safely. They then had to peer assess each other on how well they did. We then went for a little walk to look at safe places to cross the road.
In PE, the children acted out different vehicles and also had to listen for traffic noises and stop when they heard them.
For Book Week, the children listened to five book stories (The P1/2 books which they received today). They learned how to write a book review on their favourite book today.
P2 listened to the P1 reading and today the class went upstairs to the P3/4/5 class who read them storybooks too. The class also went to the mobile library today.
Most of the story books, which were read to the children this week, had words in them that rhymed. In co-operative groups the children had to find words that rhymed too.
The children have enjoyed this week. Â I heard, today was the third best day ever (probably beaten by party days!)
