After two months of hard work, the children performed their nativity, The Christmas Recipe!
They worked hard to learn their songs, words, dances, stage directions and to speak loudly and clearly in front of a large audience. There were also a few changes of costumes to play different characters. Before the performance the children also helped to paint pictures and signs to decorate the stage.
Well done children! Your hard work certainly paid off on the night!
P1/2 enjoyed their first visit to the forest with our helpers Hazel and Mr Howie.
In this visit the children learned safety rules in the forest, made soup with their kellie kettles, made numbers and letters on the ground with different outdoor items and searched for different fungi.
I know I have put this on before, but the children love it to help them learn the alphabet in order. It also uses capital letters, which we have been focusing on this week. Enjoy and keep practising your ABC!
This week P1/2 have been doing a number of activities to help them keep safe on the roads. Soft play had a road safety theme too including a road safety game, practising on a toy zebra crossing and cutting out bright clothing to be seen.
The children were out at the zebra crossing practising Think,Stop, Look and Listen and the Green Cross Code to help them cross the road safely. They then had to peer assess each other on how well they did. We then went for a little walk to look at safe places to cross the road.
In PE, the children acted out different vehicles and also had to listen for traffic noises and stop when they heard them.
For Book Week, the children listened to five book stories (The P1/2 books which they received today). They learned how to write a book review on their favourite book today.
P2 listened to the P1 reading and today the class went upstairs to the P3/4/5 class who read them storybooks too. The class also went to the mobile library today.
Most of the story books, which were read to the children this week, had words in them that rhymed. In co-operative groups the children had to find words that rhymed too.
The children have enjoyed this week. I heard, today was the third best day ever (probably beaten by party days!)
