All week we learnt about symmetrical shapes and lines of symmetry.
Health Week Day 4
We finished our week getting ready for our Easter Get Together.
In the morning we all made Easter napkin holders for the Daffodil Tea. Some of us also made flowers and others made an Easter bonnet.
In the afternoon we joined with the rest of the school in our Easter Get Together.
Health Week Day 1
Today we had a great day drawing our pictures for the Tesco Art Competition.
Our category was Dogs. We practised first and then we had to design our very own. A big thank you to Ms Webberley who was in to help us.
Our Mother’s Day Cards
Well done for making your beautiful cards and for your neat handwriting.
Hopefully all of your Mums liked them!
Florence Nightingale
We have been learning about Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. She was a very famous Victorian.
We read about her and then answered questions on her life.
We also made paper dolls of her.
To recap about Florence, visit this website and play the game about her.
Peg Dolls
Poor Victorian children could not afford dolls to play with, so they would make ones from clothes pegs.
Hope you like ours. We are also making a toy theatre, so we can do little plays.
Awongalema Tree
Today P2/3 went over to Blackford Primary School to take part in the Awongalema Tree activities provided by the Art, Drama and Music specialists.
They heard the story of the Awongalema Tree. They had to draw and paint a beautiful, colourful tree. They also learned to play different percussion instruments to different parts of the story. The children also performed in the final performance of the story with singing dancing and playing the instruments.
Everybody came away with a smile on their face!
A big thank you to the specialists and Blackford Primary for letting us use their school.
Thaumatropes
Decoupage
P2/3 have been doing decoupage to decorate their scrapbook for homework. This was a popular activity in Victorian times. It involved cutting out pictures of your favourite things and overlapping them. A coating of glue was then brushed over to give a shine. Flowers were very popular in Victorian times, but we also stuck on our favourite toys.
Yule Logs
P2/3 worked very hard to make yule logs to sell at our craft evening.
They worked in pairs and did a fantastic job. See for yourself!
