Primary 6 have been learning about animation. They have written stories and scripts and are learning how to use various different technologies to create their animation. They have had t work in teams and use skills within Art, Design and Teamwork.

Trout Farm & Cooking
As part of Primary 7’s Hungry for Health topic, they have been investigating fish. On the 16th March they took a trip to the Trout Farm, where they learned all about farming trout and preparing trout to be sold in shops. As a follow up to this activity, they were visited by Graeme Pallister who showed them various things they could do with fish. They were given an opportunity to taste Mackerel and were shown how to prepare and cook a lobster!
Comic Relief
On Friday 13th March, Moncreiffe Primary became a sea of red! We celebrated Comic Relief and raised awareness of the less fortunate. The Citizenship Council arranged a fantastic day which included a classroom sweepstake, designing your own red nose and a Red Treasure Hunt! They also made their way round each class the whole week selling red noses for £1.
The whole school did a fantastic job and managed to raise an impressive £260! Well done Moncreiffe!
Show Racism the Red Card
Primary 7 were visited from a member of the St Johnstone Football Team on 14th March and took part in a workshop to held rid football of racism. They were educated on the importance of removing racism from football and were made aware of the damage that racism can have on the game. They took a lot of information from the afternoon and felt it was a highly worthwhile learning experience.
Rotary Quiz
March 12th saw a team of Primary 7s compete against other teams the annual Rotary Quiz. They were challenged with a variety of different questions and had to work hard together, using all their individual strengths and expertise, to overcome the challenge of the difficult quiz. They successfully came 4th! Well done team Primary 7!
Maths Challenge
Primary 7 recently took part the Perth High School Maths Challenge. They were split amongst a variety of teams from all over the Perth High School Cluster. We are pleased to announce that they children were involved the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams out of the entire cluster. This is fantastic work! Well done!
World Book Day
On Thurday 5th March the whole of Moncreiffe Primary School went book crazy as we celebrate World Book Day 2015. Children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. They were also encouraged to donate books to our School Book Fair where we selling books for as little as 50p! The Book Fair was so popular we continued it on throughout the following week. Children took part in a variety of activities including designing a Book Character and taking part in a Story Writing Competition. There was also prizes for the Best Dressed in each class and even a prize from staff who all took to dressing up as famous Roald Dahl characters. Some parents even joined in the fun in the afternoon by volunteering to read to small groups of children from each class.
A fantastic day was had by all and it really helped highlight how much fun it can be to sit down with a good book!
