David, the puppet man, came in to work with us all. We all really enjoyed it, and there are even some budding ventriloquists!

Labyrinth
Today we all took part in the Labyrinth activity, led by Kate Coutts, in conjunction with the Kirk. Everyone listened while Kate told the story of Assipattle and the Stoorworm, and we learned about the story behind the labyrinth. P5 – 7 drew two labyrinths on the tennis court (involving a lot of measuring!). Then the younger children had a go. Finally, we had some folk from the community and parents come and try the labyrinth. We had a great experience today!
Gardening
Jason has mended our polytunnel, and we are now starting to plant things. We have also created a log pile to encourage wildlife.
Bag the Bruck 2022
We went to Sandgarth Beach to bag the bruck. This means that we went along the shore and picked up any rubbish that had been swept up by the tide. We mainly found plastic and bits of rope. Thanks to all the parents who came with us, and to Stanley for helping transport! Altogether we collected about 20 bags worth of rubbish.
Drum for Fun!
We all really enjoyed the drum for fun session this morning!
World Book Day 2022
We did a lot of book related activities on World Book Day. Everyone came in dressed as a character from a favourite book.
One of the library group led a book quiz which the children did in teams. Then the children all got the chance to swap some of the books they had finished with at home, and take some new ones home to enjoy. After that was a book scavenger hunt.
For PE, the children did activities based on stories from the sea.
In the afternoon, we read the French book “Cher Zoo” and then worked together to make animals from cardboard.
Kickboxing
Thankyou to Sensei Amy and Jo who came out to do our first kickboxing club. Everyone really enjoyed it!
Engineering
The children in P5-7 have been designing and making wind powered devices. Thanks to Dave Craig who came in to work with the children.
Pantosaurus
The Nursery – P4 children read the story of Pantosaurus, where we learned that the parts of your body under your pants belong only to you.
We especially enjoyed the song!

Engineering – wingsuits and ziplines
The younger class are learning about Lighthouses this term. In Engineering, the children worked together with the older class to create wingsuits and ziplines to help the lighthouse keeper get to the lighthouse without using a boat. They had to think about materials and how they would join them together.
