Vocational Education

Vocational Education in North Lanarkshire aims to provide innovative, adaptive and life changing opportunities that develops future talent in line with the local jobs market.  The courses give young people the opportunity to achieve industry recognised qualifications whilst gaining an insight to their preferred career sector and help to prepare them for the world of work.  There are a wide range of work based learning courses on offer across North Lanarkshire at SCQF Levels 4/5/6.

Vocational Courses

Vocational Courses are available for young people from S4 – S6 through School/College Partnership arrangements with New College Lanarkshire (please note courses delivered are subject to adequate numbers participating).  Courses are delivered within school by a college lecturer and are a mixture of practical and theoretical work which is assessed throughout the duration of the qualification.
 
 

Foundation Apprenticeship Courses

Foundation Apprenticeship courses supported by Skills Development Scotland are available for pupils going into S5 or S6 and can be undertaken over a 1 or 2 year period.  On successful completion pupils will gain an industry recognised qualification at SCQF Level 6 (same level as a higher), whilst gaining valuable work experience with a local employer.

HNC Courses

North Lanarkshire Council in partnership with New College Lanarkshire & University of the West of Scotland are offering HNC Courses are available to S6 pupils who would like to undertake year one of a 4 year University Degree before leaving school.
