House Captains

Pupil Leadership & the UNCRC

Pupil leadership plays a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive school culture where children feel valued and empowered. When young people are given meaningful opportunities to influence decisions, lead initiatives, and represent their peers, they develop confidence, responsibility, and a stronger sense of belonging. This aligns closely with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), particularly Article 12, which states that every child has the right to express their views and have those views taken seriously. By embedding pupil leadership across the school, we actively uphold children’s rights and ensure their voices shape the community they learn in.

Our House System

In our school, every child belongs to one of four houses (Oak, Pine, Ash, and Elm), creating a sense of identity, teamwork, and shared responsibility across year groups. Each house is led by a Primary 7 House Captain and supported by a Primary 6 Vice House Captain, providing valuable leadership opportunities for our senior pupils. These roles allow older learners to act as positive role models, organise events, encourage participation, and help build strong relationships throughout the school. The house system fosters friendly competition, celebrates achievement, and strengthens the feeling of being part of a supportive school community.
