Chicken Update

When we arrived in school this morning, we were delighted and surprised to discover that we now have…9 chicks.
We have 1 egg left to hatch which is moving around quite a lot and already has a small crack on it. Fingers crossed it hatches today!!

New Addition

We have a chick!! Overnight 1 of our eggs has hatched and we have our first chick. We think it may be a boy as it looks quite yellow underneath but we will need to wait until it fully dries to see. It is patiently chirping and tapping the other eggs to find itself a friend. Photos to follow.

Chickens are here!!

It may have been quiet day with no children at Tannochside Primary today but there was still a huge buzz of excitement as we waited for the arrival of our chicken eggs. They arrived and instead of the 4 eggs we were expecting we have 10!! It is expected that the eggs will hatch over the next 48 hours and Mr Flannigan has set up a camera to take photographs every 5 seconds so that we can capture them hatching. We will keep the chicks in school for a couple of weeks so that the children can look at the life cycle of a chicken and their inherited characteristics (just a few of our learning opportunities). Any parent who would be interested in keeping some chicks as their own once they have hatched please contact Mrs Fleck so that I can give you further information. Keep watching for photos!!

Eco Warrior – Recycling in the Dining Hall

As a school, we have been recycling paper and card for years as part of our effort to be Eco-friendly.  The Eco-Warrior committee is taking this good work one step further by introducing recycling bins into the dining hall.  Children can now recycle plastic cartons and bottles, yoghurt pots, tin foil and much more.

The Eco Warriors are helping out in the dining hall with the sorting of the litter.  This will take us one step closer to earning our Green Eco Flag.
