Money Workshops

Yesterday in the school we had some volunteers from Barclays who were out working with the children in all the classes.  The volunteers were delivering money workshops and the children all enjoyed themselves learning about maths in a real life context.  It was a great way for the children to learn some financial education.  The volunteers passed on their thanks to the school for making them so welcome and they were very impressed with the behaviour and maturity of the children.  Well done boys and girls!

PT Certificates

To help celebrate achievement at Tannochside Primary School, the Principal Teachers will be awarding certificates to Responsible Citizens in their department.

Mrs Fleck – Primaries 1-3

Mrs Ferrie – Primaries 4&5

Mrs Grant – Primaries 6&7

These certificates will be awarded during our Assemblies.  The certificates awarded at the infant assemblies will be on a two week cycle of Teachers’ Certificate and Principal Teachers’ Certificate.  For the Junior/Senior assemblies it will be on three week cycle of Teachers’ Certificate, Pupils Pupil Certificate and Principal Teachers’ Certificate.

Remember we will be looking out for good examples of Responsible Citizens and we may have 1 or more winners!

Primary 5 Football Festival

We were invited to send a team of Primary 5 pupils to a football festival at New Stevenston Primary School. The five boys and five girls who were chosen represented the school very well and had a brilliant morning. Although it’s the taking part that counts, winning two of the four matches they played really made their day.

Rebecca Adlington Visit

What a special day it was on Wednesday. We were invited to host a visit from Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer Rebecca Adlington. She was visiting Lanarkshire as part of her new swimming scheme and as a Commonwealth Games ambassador.

The children were all very excited in the lead up to her visit. Many of the classes prepared questions to ask her. The questions were quite thoughtful and Rebecca was able to give lots of information about her life as a competitive swimmer.

It was truly a special occasion, one that we will remember for a long time.

Welcome back to school

It’s hard to believe that the summer holidays are almost over!  School and nursery re-open to all pupils at the usual times on Friday 16th August and all of the staff look forward to welcoming the children back.

New Primary 1 pupils should arrive for 10am, enter via the front door and make their way to the assembly hall with their parents.

On Monday 19th August 2013, Primary 1 pupils will enter via the normal pupils doors so should be in the playground for the bell ringing at 8.55am.

Please note that only pupils and school staff are permitted into the school playground.
