We are the pupil council at Tannochside Primary school. We represent the classes at meetings and discuss items such as charity events, school fund-raising and our opinions about whole school issues.

Christmas Gift Appeal December 2011
This year the Pupil Council are supporting Viewpark Parish church’s Christmas Gift Appeal. The gifts donated will be given to less privileged children in our local area and help them to have a happier Christmas.
If you would like to help out here is what you can do:
* Next time you are Christmas shopping buy an extra gift (this does not have to be an expensive gift!).
* Wrap up your gift.
* Put a label on your gift and please say whether it is for a boy or a girl and what age it is suitable for.
* Bring your gift to school and give it to your Pupil Council class representative.
Your gifts will be collected, taken to the church and distributed.
All gifts must be in by FRIDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2011.
Thank you for all your support in helping make it a happier Christmas for everyone! Merry Christmas!

Evacuation Narrative Writing
Today we all wrote about evacuation in ww2. In chapter 1, it was about going to the train station and what it was like. Chapter2 was about going on the train and Chapter 3 was about the people who took evacuees in. A lot of us were star writers, including me.
Measuring Perimeter
Primary 7b have been working extremely hard on the measurement section in their Maths work. Here are some examples of how they are getting their heads around perimeter! Outside learning, measuring perimeter with trundle wheels. A bit of active maths indoors, measuring and cutting straws in order to make a range of perimeters. Well done Bay 18.

Today in P7 we learned all about what Christmas is like in Europe . We learned how every country has a different traditions like in Italy for Christmas dinner they have tortellini in brodo and instead of Santa Claus they have la befana who is a kind ugly witch who was delayed going to see baby Jesus being born and still is searching for him and she gives all the houses just in case he is there and this is how they say merry Christmas Buone feste natalizie!!!!! . in sweeden the tradition the littlest girl in the family puts a white rope and a red sash up and the kids wake their mum and dad up and serves them with tea or coffee and instead of santa claus they have a christmas gnome deliver the presents and instead of merry christmas they say God Jul!!!!.
Terrific Work Tuesday
P6 and 7 are continuing to produce some excellent work in their lessons. Here are this week’s Terrific Work winners:
Remembrance poems
In primary 7 we have been learning about World War 2 and we wrote some poems. Here is mine:
In my garden poppies grow, Beneath the soil row in row. All the people back then, They lay dead again and again. Remembrance day will soon pass by, For all those people who risked. Their lives and die I think to myself Why do I cry I’m thinking about them; Back then poppies blow In Flanders fields.Wartime Poem
In primary 7 we have learning about World War 2 and we wrote some poems inspired by In Flanders Fields. Here is mine :
In Flanders Fields the poppies grow and mark the graves of the dead below That gave thier lives long ago. To save thier children the future of Britain. In modern day we still remember Their lives never die in our hearts forever remembered As the poppies rot and die we think why oh why Must the soldiers have to die I hope you do not have to see the death witnessed by John McRae Who sadly passed away many a year ago As the poppies blow past his grave we Remember the soldiers that were brave The larks still fly up in the sky That sing the tale of the soldiers who die The crying and tear does not match the bloodshed and fearThat you may hear in Flanders Fields.
Remembrance Poems
We have been learning all about Remembrance in class as part of our World War II topic. We wrote a poem inspired by In Flander’s Field. Here is my poem:
In Flander’s Fields where poppies grow, Soldiers who fought for long ago, We are loved and were loved. In Flanders fields
We lived long ago to see sunset glow Now we are between the crosses Buried deep below They never thought they would see me go.In Flanders fields
We symbolise those who died long ago, We also saw moonlight glowIn Flanders fields .
